About Causes

There is a reason for every illness or health problem. If scientists can find the likely cause of diseases, then methods of treatment and prevention can follow thereafter. Thousands of different things cause diseases that are more or less harmful to health. In general, human disorders can be the result of acquired or congenital etiologies.

One thing is for sure – acquired causes do damage to us at some point in life. These external factors encompass environmental triggers, such as air pollution, chemicals, or radiation, that may influence health and lead to a range of conditions, particularly respiratory disorders or cancer. Not only this, an unhealthy lifestyle is also conducive to a number of other diseases. For example, an unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, or excessive alcohol consumption can lead you to have heart disease, obesity, or diabetes.

The internal aspect that plays a role here is genetics. Unfortunately, sometimes, we can be cursed to have a disease that develops early on or later on in life. Consequently, certain diseases are genetically inherited, which means that they can be passed down from generation to generation—for instance, cystic fibrosis or hemophilia.

Infections are another key type of disease. In this case, the disease can also be acquired through contact with the pathogen. The human body can be attacked by bacteria, viruses, and fungi, resulting in an onslaught of many symptoms. The pathogens are particularly harmful to those in whom the immune system is not at full capacity, or in other words, to those whose bodies are weakened. Besides this, immunological factors are also mentioned. Autoimmunity, in which the body attacks its cells, can lead to lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

These factors are the closest possible causes of disease. However, it should also be noted that different causes can be comorbid. As such, it is quite helpful to find out what could contribute to the decay of our health. You can read about causes in the articles on our FamilyHealthNews site. We compiled them in a logical and easy-to-read format.
